TEAR DOWN THE WALL

Demonstration against Israel's Wall, Saturday, June 4, 12 a.m., at Axeltorv, Copenhagen

The demonstration will take place as a happening with a substitute “Wall” being set up. There will be speeches by Maie Sarraf, the official head of representation of the Palestinian Authority in Denmark as well as by activists who have participated in protests against the Wall in the West Bank.

The construction of the Apartheid Wall through the West Bank is being stepped up. Palestinian land and property is being expropriated to make room for the Wall, as well as the expansion of settlements and roads.  The State of Israel has grabbed over half of the West Bank. Sharon seeks to divert attention from Israeli expansion in the West Bank by focusing on his problems of disengagement from Gaza, thus making the world believe that Israel is making peace. Sharon's expansionist policies are a gross violation of human rights and UN resolutions and will prevent the establishment of a viable Palestinian state. To make way for a stable and just peace Israel must withdraw from all occupied territories and dismantle the Jewish settlements.

Just now the Israeli peace movement is demonstrating and protesting as a manifestation of its resistance to Sharon's policies and its demand for a total withdrawal of Israel from the Occupied Territories as well as its support of Palestinians protesting against the construction of the Wall.  

Our demonstration in Copenhagen is an _expression of our solidarity with the Israeli-Palestinian resistance to the Wall and with the Israeli peace movement. We send our greetings to all.

To end the continued violations of human rights and UN resolutions by Israel and to further a development of peace, the international community, including the Danish Government, must introduce sanctions against Israel.
